On 5 September 2019, the Faculty of Economics Universitas Andalas (FEUA) invited Professor John W. Creswell as a guest speaker in the research methodology workshop. Prof. John W Creswell, PhD, an expert in Mix Method Research, was deliberately invited to a research method workshop with the theme "Constructing Mix Method Strategy in Research Approach".
The research method workshop took place in the seminar room of the FEUA postgraduate building, and it was not only attended by lecturers and graduate students in FEUA but also lecturers from state and private universities in Padang.
Dr. Harif Amali Rivai, SE., M.Sc as the Dean of FEUA highly appreciated the coming of Prof. John W Creswell, Ph.D amidst his busy schedule as a guest speaker at the 2019 AINiC (Andalas International Nursing Conference) conference.
The Dean also expressed his hope that workshop participants would take advantage of this rare opportunity to obtain tips and strategies for applying the Mix Method as a research method.
"Prof. Creswell, Ph.D is a researcher at the Mixed Methods Program, University of Michigan, "said the Dean.
After an opening ceremony by the Dean of FEUA, the workshop was guided by a moderator, Dr. Rahmi Fahmy, SE., MBA. The moderator firstly introduced academic information from Prof. John W. Creswell, Ph.D.
"Prof. John W Creswell, Ph.D has written and published many books about Mixed Methods Research and has become a reference for researchers" the moderator explained.
In presenting the material, Prof. John W. Creswell, Ph.D explains how to analyze and combine quantitative methods and qualitative methods into mixed methods research.
Also, Prof. John W. Creswell, Ph.D shared eight stages in designing a definitive Mix Methods study.
At the end of his presentation, Prof. Creswell expressed his hope that researchers from Indonesia could participate and win awards at the University of Michigan Mixed Methods program at the Sara and George McCune Scholarship Awards.
Pegadaian (Persero) Provides Scholarships for FEUA students
PT. Pegadaian (Persero) provides educational scholarships to outstanding students of the Faculty of Economics Universitas Andalas (FEUA). PT. Pegadaian assists in the form of educational allowances for 1 (one) year with a nominal value of Rp. 5,000,000 for each student. A total of 15 students who passed the selection were announced at the FEUA Anniversary event last September.
On 13 November 2019, after completing the administrative requirements, PT. Pegadaian (Persero) gives educational scholarships in cash to each scholarship recipients. The total scholarships amount submitted by PT. Pegadaian (Persero) was Rp. 75,000,000.
The awarding of the scholarship took place in the deanery courtroom of the Faculty of Economics Universitas Andalas (FEUA) and testified by Deputy Dean III, Dr. Vera Pujani, SE., MMTech and Head of Academic Department, Zarkani, SH.
Dr. Vera Pujani expressed her appreciation to PT. Pegadaian (Persero) which has taken part in improving the world of education through scholarships for outstanding students with limited economies.
Five Universiti Malaysia Sabah Students Complete Credit Earning Program in Management FEUA
Faculty of Economics Universitas Andalas (FEUA) collaborates with the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Faculty of Commerce, Economics and Society to promote and develop collaboration in the academic and research fields.
One manifestation of this collaboration is the credit-earning program between FEP UMS students and FEUA. In Odd Semester Academic Year 2019/2020 five FEP UMS students were taking credit-earning in the Management Department of FEUA. "Last year, two UMS students completed the credit-earning program in the FEUA Management department," explained Dr. Harif Amali Rivai, SE., M.Si as the Dean ofUAUA. The Dean also told that in 2019 five FEP UMS students, Suriyana Jaya bint Sugua Feredin, Marinah bint Mani, Nur Ain Fatihah bint Shamizan, Nurul Hidayah Fazilah bint Saharuddin and Edzanfauzan bin Tamin, had completed the credit-earning program in the FEUA Management department. "Now, five UMS students have returned to Malaysia to continue their studies at UMS," added the Dean. During the lectures in the odd semester of the Academic Year 2019/2020 in Management, the five international class students stayed at the Universitas Andalas student dormitory, Limau Manis Campus, Padang.
