On September 30, 2020, the Faculty of Economics, University of Andalas (FEUA), commemorated the 63rd birthday (Dies Natalis). The highlight of the FEUA Anniversary was celebrated with an Open Session and Scientific Oration online via live streaming media.
The 63rd anniversary of FEUA took the theme "Encouraging Economic Recovery during the Pandemic Period". In this activity, FEUA has held various types of web seminars and several competitions to increase students' reasoning and creativity.
Commemoration of the Anniversary was accompanied by a scientific oration by Dr. Fajri Muharja, SE, M.Sc. with the title "Pandemic Covid-19 (Health Disaster), Household Behavior and Economic Expectations in the New Life Order (New-Normal).
According to Fajri, the direct impact of the Covid-19 pandemic occurred on the production side, which is closely related to the supply of labor (labor supply).
"Likewise, on the expenditure side, the main trend is that individuals or households prioritize making choices for meeting basic needs during a pandemic," he added.
Furthermore, Fajri emphasized that the effort to break the chain of the pandemic is an absolute prerequisite that must be done so that the economy can recover and grow again as it was before the pandemic or seek a new equilibrium (new equilibrium).
After the scientific oration by Dr. Fajri Muharja, SE, M.Sc, the event was continued with a speech from the Dean on the occasion of FEUA's 63rd anniversary.
In his speech, Dr. Efa Yonnedi, SE., Ak., MPPM., CA., CRGP as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics said that the online celebration of the 63rd FEUA Anniversary is the first time it has been done in FEUA's history. This is done to reduce the mass gathering of more than 10 people and to reduce the chain of transmission of the Covid-19 virus.
The Dean also apologized to the entire academic community of the Faculty of Economics, University of Andalas (FEUA), the anniversary of FEUA was not held on September 7, 2020. On the same day, FEUA received a visit from the AUN QA assessor team in the context of international certification of study programs (prodi) Management and Development Economics. On September 21, 2020, FEUA received ABES21 assessors for the Master of Management study program in order to discuss the kaizen reports that have been submitted by the study program. On September 25 and 26 2020, BAN-PT assessors conducted an online field assessment for the re-accreditation of the Doctor of Economics study program.

Since its establishment 63 years ago, FEUA has shown significant developments until now. FEUA has 15 study programs consisting of 4 diploma study programs, 3 undergraduate study programs, 3 master study programs, 2 doctoral study programs, 2 undergraduate study programs at Payakumbuh Campus II, and 1 Accounting Professional Program.
The Faculty of Economics Unand continues to strive to increase the ratio of the number of lecturers and students to improve the quality of graduates.

A number of lecturers who had retired were replaced through the formation of PNS lecturer admissions. In 2019, FEUA received an additional 18 lecturers, and this year received an additional 1 formation.
Furthermore, the Dean said that the number of lecturers who have Doctorate degrees is still relatively small but shows a significant increase to 42% of the total number of lecturers and it is hoped that in the next 4 years the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees will reach more than 60%.
The celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of FEUA online was also attended by the Chancellor of Andalas University, Prof. Dr. Yuliandri, SH, MH. The Chancellor in his speech congratulated the 63rd anniversary of the Faculty of Economics, Andalas University.
"Encouraging economic recovery during the Pandemic Period". According to the Chancellor, this theme is one of the concrete forms that FEUA has done in the current Covid-19 pandemic. As discussed by Dr. Fajri Muharja, SE, M.Sc, in his scientific oration, there were many draft policies and recommendations that could be given.
"Of course this will be used by policy makers both at the central level, at the regional level (province and regency / city) so that our efforts to overcome various problems currently facing can be done", the Rector added his explanation.
Furthermore, the Chancellor informed that Andalas University is currently in cluster I based on the results of the assessment by the Ministry of Education and Culture of all tertiary institutions in Indonesia.
