UNAND didirikan berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan, Pengajaran dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia No. 41007 / Kab. 14 Juli 1955, dan diresmikan oleh Wakil Presiden Republik Indonesia pada 7 September 1955 di Bukittinggi. Kampus ini merupakan penggabungan dari Fakultas Hukum Pancasila yang didirikan pada tahun 1951 oleh Yayasan Sriwijaya di Padang, Sekolah Tinggi Pertanian di Payakumbuh dan Sekolah Pendidikan Guru (PTPG) di Batusangkar yang berdiri pada tahun 1954, serta Fakultas Kedokteran dan Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam yang didirikan pada tahun 1955 di Bukittinggi.

UNAND secara resmi dilembagakan pada 13 September 1956, berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 24 Tahun 1956 (Lembaran Negara Republik Indonesia Tahun 1956, Tambahan Lembaran Negara Republik Indonesia Nomor 1045) yang berdomisili di Bukittinggi dan sejak 1 Januari 1959, pindah ke Padang.

Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Andalas (FE-Unand) Padang, didirikan pada 7 September 1957. Pada awalnya fakultas ini bernama Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi yang dikelola oleh Yayasan Sekolah Tinggi Pancasila dari Dewan Banteng. Pendirian ini ditandai dengan kuliah perdana pada tanggal yang sama oleh Prof. Dr. Soemitro Djojokusumo yang bertempat di Jalan Prajurit Hall Hall Gedung Bonjol Padang.

Program Studi Manajemen telah didirikan sejak fakultas ekonomi UNAND didirikan. Pada awal pengembangannya, Program Studi Manajemen masih disebut Program Studi Ekonomi Korporat, tetapi pada awal 1980-an berdasarkan surat PP5/1980 istilah tersebut diubah menjadi Program Studi Manajemen.

appeal-procedure

Students may apply an appeal procedure if they are confident that the received grade is unfair, arbitrary or in a prejudicial manner. The student can immediately communicate with the lecturer within five days after the grade released. If the matter is not tackled by the lecturer, within five days after the meeting with the lecturer, the student can submit in written form with a brief description of the main problem and the reason to appeal to the vice-dean for academic affairs. Then, within five days after accepting the request, the vice dean has to hold a meeting with the student and lecturer, and make a written decision in five days afterwards. If the student is not satisfied, the academic appeal request may be filled to the student service unit comprising of the vice dean for academic affairs or the Head of study program, the Vice Dean for student affair, three lecturers in an ad-hoc team, and a student selected by the vice dean for academic affairs or Head of study program. The decision letter is sent within ten days. This policy does not apply to alleged harassment or discrimination, where the circumstance regarding this case is separated from academic policies.

If students remain dissatisfied, they may submit a formal appeal to be taken into consideration by the faculty where the course is taught. Appeal applications must be made no later than 20 University working days after official notification of grading in the portal.  The students' appeal should be an appropriate application form that contains the following information:

  • The reasons why results that students receive is not fit with the criteria of assessment that is advised to them, or Assessment Rules or procedure is not complied.
  • Confirmation that students have already consulted the result with their lecturer.
  • Any evidence that support students appeal, for instance; an assignment that have been received back. It is necessary as consideration for faculty to determine the appeal.
